Free video to MP3 converter

Pull the sound out of your own videos and audio files. Nothing is uploaded.

Output
Keep only part (seconds)

Your files never leave this device.

Drop a video or audio file from your device and download its sound as an MP3 or WAV. Choose the bitrate, switch to mono or trim the start and end, and convert several files at once. Everything runs in your browser, so your recordings are never uploaded. It works only with files you already have, not with links.

How to use

  1. Drop one or more video or audio files onto the page.
  2. Choose MP3 or WAV and, for MP3, the bitrate.
  3. Switch to mono or set start and end seconds if you need only part of the sound.
  4. Download each file, or all of them together as a ZIP.

Frequently asked questions

How do I convert a video to MP3 for free?

Drop the video onto this page, keep MP3 selected and download the result. The sound is extracted in your browser, so there is no sign-up, no upload and no watermark.

How do I extract audio from a video?

Add the video file, choose MP3 (or WAV for uncompressed sound) and press convert. The tool reads the audio track and saves it as a separate file; the video itself is not changed.

Can I download audio from a YouTube or TikTok link?

No. This tool works only with files that are already on your device and does not download anything from links. If you have the video file itself, for example your own recording, you can convert it here.

Which MP3 bitrate should I choose?

192 kbps, the default, suits most music and recordings. Use 128 kbps for speech or when you need a small file, and 256 or 320 kbps when sound quality matters most. Bitrates of 96 to 320 kbps are available.

Which file types can I convert?

MP4, MOV, M4A, AAC, MP3 and WAV open in every browser. WebM, OGG, Opus and FLAC work in most browsers, and MKV only in some. What opens depends on what your browser can play.

Is there a length limit?

Yes, up to 2 hours of audio per file. Long files also depend on your device's memory, so on a phone they may need to be shorter. Trimming to the part you need helps.

Are my files uploaded anywhere?

No. The conversion runs inside your browser, so the file never leaves your device. There is no account and no limit on how many files you convert.

Why won't my video open?

Either your browser cannot play that format or the file is protected. Protected (DRM) files, such as purchased movies, cannot be opened. For other formats, try a different browser or a more common format like MP4.

Which file should I start from?

Start from whatever you have: a screen recording, a phone video, a lecture, a voice note. For clips from a camera or screen recorder, the MP4 to MP3 page is the usual route. iPhone videos usually arrive as QuickTime files, which the MOV to MP3 page covers. If the sound is already audio, such as an Apple voice memo, use M4A to MP3, and for large uncompressed recordings see WAV to MP3.

All of these open the same tool, so the choice only decides which page explains your case. Pages for the same job share the same settings.

MP3 or WAV: what should I pick?

MP3 is compressed and small, which makes it right for sharing, phones and uploads. WAV is uncompressed 16-bit sound; it is much larger, but it is a better source if you plan to edit the audio in another program and export it again later.

For MP3, the bitrate sets the size and the quality. Speech is fine at 128 kbps. Music sounds better at 192 kbps or higher. A higher bitrate cannot add detail that a low-quality video never had, so do not choose 320 kbps for a poor source and expect an improvement.

How do I keep only the part I need?

Set a start and an end second before converting. This is handy for cutting the intro from a recording, saving a single song from a long video or sharing one answer from an interview. If a voice recording has only one speaker, switch to mono. The file gets smaller and speech stays clear.

When you convert many files, the batch download gives you a single ZIP, so you do not need to save them one by one. If you want to estimate how long a script will take to read aloud, the word counter shows speaking time.

What can this tool not do?

It never fetches anything from the internet. If you only have a link, this tool cannot help; it needs the file on your device. Protected files, such as purchased movies, will not open either, and the output is always audio, not video.

For other jobs on your files, the video and audio tools page lists what is available, and the image tools such as the image compressor handle pictures separately. Everything stays on your device either way.

Limits and privacy

  • It works only with your own files. There is no downloading from YouTube, TikTok, Instagram or other links.
  • The output is audio only. It does not produce or compress video.
  • Protected (DRM) files, such as purchased movies, cannot be opened.
  • Files can be up to 2 hours of audio; long files depend on your device's memory and may fail on phones.
  • Sound is converted to 44.1 kHz, and which formats open depends on your browser.
